TAKE OUTS FROM THE PI LIVE CONFERENCE
The 2019 PI Live affiliate conference was as busy as ever in the iconic Old Billingsgate setting by the Thames in London. And it proved the perfect venue for the full launch of our new Publisher Discovery platform to the industry.
The event tickets had sold out and a great mix of advertisers, agencies, networks and affiliates arrived for the conference. As in 2018, it included the Influencer Marketing Show broadening the appeal to a wider audience. I had several conversations with people who were new to affiliate, from both the PR/Influencer side and the ecommerce side of our industry.
PUBLISHER DISCOVERY LAUNCH
Our main focus this year has been development of the new platform UI and app structure. The huge amounts of data held within the app mean that now so much more is pre-processed. Its much simpler than before to get analysis at advertiser level of a competitor’s affiliate programme. The app also gives users a lot more visibility across their own affiliate relationships.
There was a lot of interest in our new technology. We met so many people over the two days – and got some great comments on the usability compared to the previous platform. Show delegates also gave us some brilliant feedback and ideas, many of which could well find their way into the interface. You can see more on the platform in the launch blog post.
If you want to see how it can help in your affiliate recruitment – and subscribe to get your own view of your competitors’ affiliates – go straight to the Pricing page and get started!
THE CONFERENCE
The exhibition hall was as busy as ever especially at session changeovers and on a busy stand you almost forget there are sessions going on! There were great sessions that some of us caught parts of between a busy meeting schedule.
Awin‘s Robert Davinson set out their ‘new framework for the future of affiliate marketing’ on the first day. The dome stage shown in the main photo was busy all day with wide ranging sessions. Elsewhere there were sessions on remote working teams, technology and innovation and measuring customer value in performance channels. This was closed off with a chill out and networking time on the breezy river terrace catching up with old friends.
Day two started with a new feature of 8-minute insights, with talks from LatestFree Stuff, RevLifter and Voz Lab. The highlight keynote from A4D CEO, Jason Akatiff on how those in affiliate should effectively be using and working with media buyers.
OUR NEXT EXHIBITION
Our next conference will be Affiliate Summit West, set again at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas in January. #ASW20 is a must-attend event for anyone serious about performance-based marketing in North America. As well as over 150 conference sessions, the agenda covers a range of topics to help you take your affiliate business forward.
This January again it also includes the AM Days training sessions. These are essential for anyone new to affiliates with excellent training content. Old hands will also discover new techniques and inspiration, so make sure you check it out.
As its Las Vegas, there are also parties. The key ones are hosted by Shareasale and Affiliate Ball, as well as plenty of network receptions across the city. Also being Vegas, there’s the added fizz of being in the Casino capital of the world.
So, if you’re heading to Las Vegas for the show it will be great to meet you there.
